Annika Marks


Best known for playing “Amanda” in Fox Searchlight’s “The Sessions” (Winner of the Audience Award and the Special Jury Award for Ensemble Acting at the Sundance Film Festival), Marks stars in the hit ABC Family show “The Fosters” as Principal Monte Porter. She can also be seen starring opposite Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammar and Lily Collins in the Amazon Original Series “The Last Tycoon”, based off F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final novel, and recently wrapped filming on Weinstein Co.’s mini-series “WACO” (based off the Branch Davidian compound in the 1990’s), and “The World Without You”, a film based on Joshua Henkin’s best-selling novel starring Perry Reeves and PJ Byrne.

Additional film and television credits include; Columbia Pictures’ “Mona Lisa Smile”, IFC’s “The Undeserved”, “Battle Creek”, “Law & Order, “Southland”, “NCIS: New Orleans”, “Grace” (a role for which she won the Best Actress in a Feature Narrative Award at the Woods Hole Film Festival), Sonny Mallhil’s “Anguish”, the award-winning shorts “Hard to Come By” and “The Mushroom Sessions”, as well as “Monday Mornings”.

A theatrical actress, Marks has starred as the lead in the Geffen Playhouse production of “The Model Apartment”, as ‘Canadace’ in the world premiere of “Doesn’t’ Anyone Know What A Pancreas Is?” for Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA (2013 Ovation Award Nomination for Featured Actress in a Play, StageScene-LA Award Winner for Featured Actress/Comedy), ‘Lulu’ in the world premiere of Nicholas Kazan’s “Mille”, “GOD” for Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA (StageScene-LA Award Winner for Actress/Comedy-Drama), ‘Bethany’ in the world premiere of Wendy Graf’s “Behind The Gates” (StageScene-LA Award Winner for Actress/Drama), ‘Liza’ in the world premiere of Fielding Edlow’s “The Something Nothing”, ‘Betty’ in Bernie Weinraub’s “The Accomplices” for The Fountain Theatre and over a dozen other shows in LA and NYC. Marks is a graduate of the Circle in the Square Theatre School.

Outside of acting, Marks gives her time to the Hamomi Children’s Centre and A Sense of Home. She recently won the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience Social Impact Award for her work with both organizations, as well as her self-produced PSA’s titled “Stay Filthy…” (California and New Mexico) which urge others to be mindful of water waste during the drought. She creates a balance of spiritual and physical being with her practices in Yoga and Hiking, and has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro as well as tracked Patagonia. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Rich Newey.
